Q.  Can I use a Service Difficulty Report (SDR) to identify an NDT technique that is unsatisfactory?

A.  Absolutely!! Transport Canada has put a lot of effort into improving the SDR program and it is an excellent way to report any kind of NDT inspection problem you may be having. When alerted to a problem like this, the Transport Canada NDT Resource Specialist will liase with the manufacturer or foreign airworthiness authority (if it's a foreign aircraft) to improve the inspection or develop an acceptable alternative. Using the SDR system is an excellent way for improving NDT inspection techniques which may be outdated or ineffective.
