Accountability Framework in Aircraft Certification

During the past eight months members of the Accountability Framework in Aircraft Certification Working Group have been busy!  The Canadian Aviation Regulation Advisory Council (CARAC) Part V Technical Committee requested the Working Group in June 2006.  Its purpose was to examine the potential for formal recognition of a design organization's knowledge of the certification process and technical capability to design products that comply with the applicable airworthiness and environmental standards.  This activity was undertaken in support of the need for Aircraft Certification to have the appropriate regulatory framework to enable application of Safety Management Systems (SMS) to design organizations.

The members of the Working Group accepted the final report a few weeks ago.   The next step is to formally present the report to the CARAC Part V Technical Committee at a meeting scheduled for September 11 and 12, 2007.
