CHANGED PRODUCT RULE TRAINING

You have no doubt heard that the Changed Product Rule implementation has been postponed and is now targeted for June 2003. The awareness training that took place in May and June 2001 and the two Specialist training sessions that took place in August and October 2001 will serve both Transport Canada and Industry well as we further develop the policies, procedures and support infrastructure that will accompany the implementation of the rule. A great deal of work is expected to take place between now and the implementation of the rule. Feedback received by participants who attended the Specialist training indicated that the workshop format coupled with the use of industry and Transport Canada coaches was the most appropriate means of acquiring some of the skills for the target group. Feedback from the Specialist training also indicated that the course should be lengthened to 3 days to afford more practice and feedback in the workshops. The schedule below is therefore based on delivering a course that is 3 days in duration

A new course delivery schedule has been developed for the Specialist training. It is as follows:

Location Date
Coaches training (refresher/update) Feb 25-27/2003
Ottawa Mar 4-6/2003
Montreal April 1-3/2003
Toronto April 14-16/2003
Winnipeg April 29-May 1/2003
Calgary May 7-9/2003
Edmonton May 13-15/2003

Halifax May 27-29/2003
Cornwall June 3-5/2003

Updates on the schedule will be posted on the web for your information. For those who attended the manager's awareness training, there will be some form of refresher/update training. It is expected that it will be delivered via video conference and has been scheduled for January 15/2003.
