A Transport Canada / Transportation Safety Board / industry "Flight Recorder Workshop" will be held in Ottawa to discuss and address items of concern to TSB and industry with respect to Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) airworthiness standards, installation and maintenance practices. Many requests have been received from industry and regions for clarification of the standards and advisory material, and information pertaining to future CARs and standards (e.g. EUROCAE).
Participants will be TC HQ and regional engineers, TC Maintenance, TC Operational Standards, TSB, NRC, avionics mod shops, aircraft manufacturers (Bombardier, Bell), operators (Air Canada, Canadian etc.) and equipment manufacturers.
Please note that this is not a CARAC meeting. It is intended to get input from TSB and industry on items of concern regarding FDR and CVR standards for equipment, installation and maintenance. Should any recommendations arise that would require an amendment to the CARS or AWM, then these would be processed through the appropriate CARAC WG in the normal manner.
The Flight Recorder Workshop will be held:
7, 8 April 1999 (9:00 - 17:00 each day)
Tower C, Place de Ville
9 April (9:00 - 12:00)
TSB/NRC, Ottawa Airport
The above will enable travel home on Friday p.m.
