National Aircraft Certfication Accountability Framework
The National Aircraft Certification Branch is currently working on the development of an accountability framework that will eventually result in a regulatory initiative aimed at clarifying and improving the roles and obligations of applicants and holders of approvals/certificates, the Minister and its delegates in the certification of aeronautical products. This project will allow implementation of a regulatory structure permitting the recognition of the knowledge and technical capability of design organizations and individuals while facilitating the implementation of Safety Management System principles within the aircraft certification environment.

- The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) working group has prepared a report and presentation, for consideration by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), outlining the development of a proposed framework for the establishment and oversight of Certified Design Organizations (CDO) that certify compliance with the applicable standards of airworthiness standards. This proposal is provided for information because of its similarities with the National Aircraft Certification Branch project to implement a regulatory structure to recognize knowledge and technical capability of design organizations:
