Aviation Document Booklet

Eventually, all holders of Canadian air traffic controller licences and flight crew licences and permits will be required to hold an Aviation Document Booklet.

The Aviation Document Booklet is provided to flight crew members and air traffic controllers as evidence that they have qualified for certain aviation-related permits, licences, certificates and ratings.

Updated This notification provides advance notice of the implementation of the new regulations requiring all pilots, flight engineers and air traffic controllers holding aviation licences in a paper format to apply for and obtain an Aviation Document Booklet. Air Traffic Controller and Flight Engineer licences along with Private, Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot Licences in the old format must be replaced by the Aviation Document Booklet by midnight on June 30, 2010. Only holders of a valid new Aviation Document Booklet, will be able to continue to exercise the privileges of their licence.


Now accepting booklet applications from all existing licences and permits holders.

To retain licence validity, current document holders must apply for an Aviation Document Booklet to replace their old format licences.

NOTE: To determine whether the Aviation Document Booklet can satisfy requirements imposed by other legislation or whether the document can be used in support of applications to another department, agency or institution, one would have to consult that particular department, agency or institution.
