Air Cargo Security (ACS) Program
Canada has one of the best aviation safety and security programs in the world and is continuously improving its programs. Working with the aviation and cargo industries, Transport Canada's goal is to develop and enhance a comprehensive Air Cargo Security program that meets the highest standards in the world, assures the safety and security of the traveling public, and facilitates the efficient flow of goods in and out of Canada.
Air Cargo Security (ACS) Initiative
The Government of Canada has invested an additional $26M over two years to develop further enhancements to its current air cargo security program. The Air Cargo Security Initiative, led by Transport Canada, was launched as a direct result of this investment. The ACS Initiative is proceeding with a two-pronged approach to create a "made-in-Canada" solution that is harmonized with other leading international partners.
The ACS Initiative is currently developing:- enhancements for the Air Carrier Program;
- a Regulated Agent Program;
- a Secure Supply Chain Management System (SSCMS); and
- improved air cargo screening techniques and technologies.
