Security Programs

Key elements of the Canadian air cargo security programs include requirements to:

  • put cargo security plans in place;
  • conduct employee background checks and training;
  • control access to cargo;
  • maintain chain-of-custody;
  • screen shipments;
  • report incidents; and
  • conduct exercises and security audits.

Another major security program activity was to create, and now to maintain the Secure Supply Chain Management System (SSCMS)* database.

What is the Secure Supply Chain Management System?

This database captures the information SSCMS participants must provide to become trusted members. This includes:

  • agent information
  • inspection and compliance results, and
  • air cargo security templates.

In addition, the system enables participants to validate other entities associated with the ACS Program.

* Access to the SSCMS is limited to participants of the ACS program.
