Air Cargo Security
Information for Industry
Resources
Key elements of the Canadian air cargo security programs include requirements to:
- put cargo security plans in place;
- conduct employee background checks and training;
- control access to cargo;
- maintain chain-of-custody;
- screen shipments;
- report incidents; and
- conduct exercises and security audits.
Another major security program activity was to create, and now to maintain the Secure Supply Chain Management System (SSCMS)* database.
What is the Secure Supply Chain Management System?
This database captures the information SSCMS participants must provide to become trusted members. This includes:
- agent information
- inspection and compliance results, and
- air cargo security templates.
In addition, the system enables participants to validate other entities associated with the ACS Program.
* Access to the SSCMS is limited to participants of the ACS program.
