In December of 2008, Transport Canada announced the launch of the Security Plan Generator (SPG) Pilot Project. The pilot project was intended to aid industry in creating a compliant, useful Cargo Security Plan (CSP) specific to their operations and assess the value of the tool.
Many industry members showed interest in the SPG pilot project and submitted CSP?s completed using the SPG for acceptance by Transport Canada. The pilot project was launched with a clearly defined end date of March 15th, 2009, at which point all data related to the pilot was to be analysed for project evaluation. To assist SPG pilot project participants who have been unable to complete their SPG CSPs the project termination date has been extended to March 27th, 2009. Therefore, if you have received a licensed copy of the SPG and have not submitted a CSP, you must do so before March 27th, 2009 at 17:00 Pacific Daylight Time.
After March 27th, Transport Canada will not accept any CSP?s generated using SPG software. Transport Canada also requires that those industry members who received the SPG software remove it from their workstations due to expiration of the software licence.
Transport Canada appreciates the feedback on this pilot received from industry and wishes to thank all the SPG pilot participants for their assistance in this element of the Air Cargo Security Initiative.
