Advisory Circulars

This page provides access to aviation safety Advisory Circulars (AC) published on or after February 2, 2007.

An Advisory Circular provides an example of an acceptable means, but not the only means, of demonstrating compliance with regulations and standards.

Document Series

Advisory Circulars that relate to a Part or Standard of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) will be found in the equivalent numerical series.

Example: An Advisory Circular on flight crew licensing related to CAR 401 will be found in the 400 Series..

Advisory Circulars that do not relate to one specific Part or Standard of the CARs will be found in the 100 Series for General Provisions.

Example: An Advisory Circular on safety management systems (SMS) applicable to all aviation organizations will be found in the 100 Series for General Provisions.

Advisory Circulars that do not relate to another regulatory instrument will be located in the applicable series.

Example: An Advisory Circular on protecting employee health and safety will be found in the LTA Series for Labour Travail Aviation, otherwise known as Aviation Occupational Health and Safety.
