Admission to Flight Test – Renewal

In order to be admitted to a flight test required for the renewal of an Instrument Rating, the candidate will present:

  1. a valid original government-issued photo identification with signature;
  2. a valid Pilot Licence; and
  3. proof of holding, or having held within the previous 24 months, a valid Canadian Instrument Rating.

In order to be admitted to a partial flight test following failure of a flight test for the renewal of an Instrument Rating, the candidate will present:

  1. a valid original government-issued photo identification with signature;
  2. a valid Pilot Licence;
  3. a copy of the flight test report for the previously failed flight test; and
  4. a letter, signed by a person qualified in accordance with CAR 425.21(9) stating that the candidate:
  1. has undergone additional training; and
  2. is considered competent for the flight test.

Note: If the Instrument Rating has been expired for more than 24 months, the requirements for admission to an initial flight test must be met.
