Chapter 2 - Registration Computer Applications

2.1  CANADIAN CIVIL AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION COMPUTER SYSTEM

The Canadian Civil Aircraft Register is maintained on a computer system. Access to the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register Computer System (CCARCS), is necessary to administer aircraft registration transactions.

There are various access levels CCARCS which allow the user to perform different capabilities. These are assigned by headquarters based on the duties any individual is required to perform. "Updating" capability is delegated by Headquarters to individuals in Headquarters, the Regions or Transport Canada Centres (TCCs). Regional staff must first obtain approval for this capability from the Regional Manager, General Aviation. If approved, Regional Systems Support and Information Technology office forwards the request to Headquarters.

2.2  DOCUMENT PRINTING APPLICATION SYSTEM

The Document Printing Application System (DPAS) - a PC sub-system of CCARCS - is maintained by Headquarters. It is the system which permits printing of all registration and leasing documentation and is accessible to all CCARCS updating staff in Headquarters, Regions and TCCs. Updates to the system are made by Headquarters, as instructions on using DPAS may be extracted.

It should be noted that if CCARCS is "down", documents may be printed "offline". Assistance can be sought from regional staff or by telephoning Headquarters at (613) 990-1120.

2.3  REGISTRATION-RELATED FORMS AND DOCUMENTS

All registration forms and documents referred to in this Manual are accessible to registration staff through the DPAS. These forms may undergo minor improvements from time to time. As a result, sample copies have not been included but may be viewed or printed through the DPAS.
