Amendment Procedures & Schedule

Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 2011-2

The following explains the amendment process for the print version of the Transport Canada consolidation of the CARs as distributed by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

Amendment Cycle

The CARs are amended semi-annually (June 1 and December 1). As necessary, supplementary amendments may also occur.

Each published amendment includes an overall summary, by Part or Subpart, of all CARs captured in the amendment. This summary will be published and sent to all CARs subscribers and will serve as the record of amendment for all Parts of the CARs, whether or not they are affected by that particular amendment.

Display of Amendment

The amended text is highlighted for ease of reference. As well, the amendment date appears at the end of the paragraph affected. See example below.

704.09 General conditions of Air Operator Certificate

An air operator certificate shall contain the following general conditions:

(a) the air operator shall conduct flight operations in accordance with its company operations manual;
