Airport Pavement Computer Software

Computer software is available to assist in the application of airport pavement design and evaluation methods.   The software packages are provided on an “as-is” basis.  The appropriate regulatory standards should always be consulted to determine mandatory requirements respecting airport pavements.  As with the use of all engineering software, the user should be familiar with the underlying technical theory and principles inherently used within the program and exercise due diligence and judgement in the interpretation and application of results.

  • Flexible and Rigid Airport Pavement Design/Evaluation Charts (DesignChart.zip)

Software program for the structural (thickness) design of both flexible and rigid airport pavements using historical Transport Canada design methods. The program generates flexible and rigid airport pavement design/evaluation charts based on user input of aircraft landing gear load parameters.

  • Aircraft Load Rating (ALR) Computation for Flexible and Rigid Airport Pavements (ALR.zip)

Software program for the computation of Aircraft Load Ratings (ALR’s).  ALRs for flexible pavements are determined and reported at four standard subgrade bearing strengths (50, 90, 130 and 180 kN). Similarly, ALRs for rigid pavements are determined and reported at four standard bearing modulus values (20, 40, 80 and 150 MPa/m). A maximum ALR is also reported at each aircraft weight so that pavement strength suitability can be assessed quickly without the need for detailed subgrade strength or bearing modulus values.
