A private pilot operating a Cessna 172 on floats with a passenger on-board departed a lake and experienced an engine failure shortly after take-off. The aircraft hit some tree tops and crashed. No one was injured however, during the investigation that followed it was discovered that the pilot did not have a valid pilot licence or medical certificate. The pilot was sanctioned with a monetary penalty totalling $2,000.00.

A private pilot operating a Cessna 180 was unable to produce a valid pilot licence when asked by authorities. By his own admission he stated he did not have a valid pilot licence. Further investigation revealed that he had been flying without a valid pilot licence for a number of years. The individual was sanctioned with $2,500.00 monetary penalty.
