About Aircraft Certification Standards

Aircraft Certification Standards performs a diversified and varied number of tasks such as analyzing the applicability of current Canadian regulations, standards and advisories, evaluating their effectiveness and proposing changes to them to improve aviation safety. A major challenge is to keep the Canadian Regulations abreast of technological advancements in aviation and to improve aviation safety.

Aircraft Certification Standards personnel actively participate in the international harmonization process through membership in committees and working groups set up by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or by foreign airworthiness authorities, such as the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). They also research issues such as environmental impact, cabin safety, participate in the development and implementation of various bilateral arrangements established with foreign countries and develop advisory and guidance material related to current regulatory certification processes and design requirements.
