The Corporate Planning and Reporting Branch is the lead within Transport Canada to integrate the departmental planning and reporting functions. It provides leadership and advice in the development and implementation of frameworks to support integrated planning and reporting, integrated risk management and management initiatives in the department. It also coordinates and prepares several key departmental reports - the Report on Planning and Priorities, the Departmental Performance Report and the Management Accountability Framework.
The Corporate Planning and Reporting Branch is the lead within Transport Canada to integrate planning and reporting functions at the deparmental level, including strategic planning, business planning, operational planning and internal service planning. The branch develops processes and tools to facilitate integrated planning within the Department by aligning business plans, strategic plans and reports, performance management and measurement instruments with internal service plans. The objective is to ensure the department can achieve and measure the results it plans for.
It also supports the integration of horizontal, cross-cutting functions such as risk management and audit and evaluation in the planning process.
The Corporate Planning and Reporting Branch is responsible for coordinating the preparation and submission of Transport Canada’s annual reports to Parliament as part of the Expenditure Management System.
Two key pillars of the Expenditure Management System, the Report on Plans and Priorities and the Departmental Performance Report are prepared annually and are tabled in Parliament. The Corporate Planning and Reporting Branch also coordinates and reports to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat on another key pillar of managing for results, the Management Accountability Framework (MAF).
