ABSTRACT:

This research provides a background assessment of the most promising northern corridor combinations of infrastructure investment and resource development. The report looks at resource logistics requirements in the context of linear infrastructure that is lacking in the North. The assessment considers six northern corridors primarily in terms of new or improved marine and road infrastructure, and addresses some of the prospective railway, pipeline, transmission and fibre optic investments in each corridor. The analysis summarizes comparative corridor costs and resource expenditures based on project Technical Reports or best alternative source of data. The report also previewed the promise of the six resource development corridors, investment in which could create a critical mass of benefit balanced linear infrastructure to drive an economically productive future for the North. Recommendations are offered to assist in planning and coordination of a potential corridor.
