Bulletin No.: 13/1984

Date (Y-M-D): 1984-08-29

Subject: Engine Room Bilge Level Alarms

The inquiry into the sinking of an anchor-handling tug revealed that no warning was given by the bilge flooding alarm; as a result it was too late to take corrective action when the ingress of water into the engine room was noticed.

This points out the necessity for regular testing and maintenance of these and other warning devices.
