Subject: Marine Abandonment Immersion Suits Zipper Faults

This Bulletin replaces Bulletin No. 02/1986.

  1. A number of immersion suits fitted with TALON zippers remain in service on Canadian ships.
  2. These suits were mostly manufactured prior to 1984. The TALON zippers can be identified by the word "TALON" embossed on the zipper slide mechanism.
  3. TALON zippers are subject to sudden, unforeseeable failure.
  4. All immersion suits fitted with TALON zippers must be immediately returned to the manufacturer or his accredited agent to have the zipper replaced.
