Subject: Halon 1301 Re - Cycling and Banking Facilities in Canada

This Bulletin has been replaced by Bulletin No. 11/2001.

The purpose of this Ship Safety bulletin is to inform the CMAC members, the marine industry and fire protection community on the Recognized Halon Banks in Canada (ref: Ship Safety Bulletin 15/95 and Board Decision #5975).

The IMO Secretariat requested Member Governments for advice on the Halon banking facilities that are established within their jurisdiction for contact to arrange the deposit of decommissioned Halons or the purchase of re-cycled Halons. (ref IMO-FP/Circ.1) The attached list has been submitted to IMO .

Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada ( ULC ), is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada to develop Standards for Fire Protection Equipment, etc.

ULC has listed and certified the Halon re-cycling, banking and servicing agencies in Canada. These agencies have a large stock of Halon available to International and Domestic ships that are in compliance with the IMO -SOLAS and Canadian Fire Protection Regulations.
