Dear Transport Canada and the Office of Boating Safety,
On behalf of the Weather-All Marine Safety Association (WAMSA) Inc, we, the undersigned, would like to submit this Letter of Intent to submit project proposals in accordance with the Transport Canada Boating Safety Class Contribution Program (BSCCP) for your Program Implementation Year 2010-2011. The Weather-All Marine Safety Association is a Not-For-Profit organization incorporated in the Province of Ontario. A copy of our Letters Patent is attached to this letter.
As of the present date, our organization intends to carry out one or more projects during the TC Program Implementation Year of 2010-2011. These projects will encompass at least one of each of the following:
It is evident from the foregoing that our intended project is in alignment with Transport Canada’s Office of Boating Safety mandate to increase awareness amongst Canadian recreational boaters, to decrease numbers of personal injuries and recreational boating accidents, and loss of life.
Our project is intended to take place in the Canadian Northwest, targeting five northern communities of the Yukon Territory and British Columbia. We will be preparing suitable boating safety awareness materials for presentation and instruction to children, ages 5 to 19 years. It is our belief that there are significant advantages to impressing upon the “boaters of tomorrow” the enjoyment of recreational boating as well as the dangers of unsafe practices. We also believe that we can enlist the assistance of the children to indirectly influence those parents who may currently be recreational boaters.
Our safety awareness campaign will be conducted using volunteers from our Association as well as two subject matter experts. Our campaign will take place from April 1st, 2010 to December 31st, 2010. At this time, we expect that the total project budget required will be in the order of $70,000 to $80,000.
We, the undersigned, recognize that this Letter of Intent to participate does not bind us to (a) submit a project application or (b) submit a project application that includes the exact partners listed herein. We understand that this Letter of Intent will be used by Transport Canada and The Office of Boating Safety to communicate with prospective Recipients and to adequately prepare for the project review process.
Sincerely,
Encl:
