Cargo Lifting Gear / Tackle and Lifting Appliances
Cargoes and Ship-Port Interface provides support for the department's responsibilities under the Cargo, Fumigation and Tackle Regulations (Part 3), which cover international obligations under the International Labour Organization (ILO) (ILO 32 and 152) for safety involving tackle and lifting appliances used in dock work on or near ships.
Over the years, Marine Safety has worked in cooperation with industry to develop relevant standards for the safe use of cargo gear, such as for safe wear limits, web slings, and unitized cargo.
TP 11232 - Unitized Cargo Standard was developed to provide a national guide to unitized cargo requirements.
