Marine Safety and Security Regulatory Engagement Opportunities
Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC)
The Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) is Transport Canada's primary consultative body for marine matters. Participants include representatives of individuals and parties that have a recognized interest in boating and shipping concerning safety, recreational matters, navigation, marine pollution and response and marine security.
Subjects typically discussed include:
- the development and acceptance of international conventions, regulations, codes, standards, and recommendations;
- the development and implementation of national statutes, regulations, codes, standards, recommendations and procedures;
- operations and services; and
- any other matters related to marine safety, marine services, marine pollution prevention and response, and marine security.
Save the Date! The next national Canadian Marine Advisory Council conference is being planned for December 5th to 7th, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario.
The most recently held national CMAC took place at the Shaw Center, located at 55 Colonel By Drive in Ottawa, from April 19 to 21, 2016.
There are nine Standing Committees to discuss issues and topics relative to their area and make recommendations for consideration.
The next Ontario Region CMAC will be held October 4, 2017 at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel located at 116 King Street West in Hamilton, Ontario.

Prairie and Northern Region
*NEW* The next Prairie & Northern Regional CMAC will be held on November 15 and 16, 2017 in Iqaluit.
The meeting will be held at the Frobisher Inn.

The next Atlantic Regional CMAC will be held on March 16, 2017. The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in Halifax Ballroom Salon A/B of the Halifax Marriott Harbour front Hotel, 1919 Upper Water Street, Halifax.

The meeting will be held in a new location at the Joseph & Rosalie Segal Centre, Rooms 1400 – 1420, Harbour Centre, Simon Fraser University, 515 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, British Columbia.
