For immediate release
April 19, 2005
Transport Canada is advising parents, caregivers and the public of a potential problem with Dorel Juvenile Group USA harness systems on certain Designer 22 and Arriva infant restraint systems.
The harness on the infant restraint was reported to loosen during normal use of the restraint system. On investigation it was determined that there was a problem with certain webbing used in some of the infant carriers that were manufactured for Dorel Juvenile Group USA.
Transport Canada received six complaints with respect to harness slippage and Dorel Canada was informed of the problem. Dorel Canada has received an additional three complaints. No injuries have been reported.
About 35,236 car seats with the following model numbers were affected:
Designer 22 models: 22H65MAC; 22H32CRB; 22H32CMB; 22H32VIN; 22H32MTQ; and 22H32JOS.
Arriva models: 22H51THE; 22H09THE; and 22H09PAW.
These seats were manufactured from January 01, 2004 to October 31, 2004.
The model number and date of manufacture can be found on a label on the side or bottom of the restraint.
Dorel Canada will provide a notification letter and a fix kit free of charge to all registered owners. Any unregistered owners may call the company to receive a free fix kit. In addition, all major retail store buyers will receive notification.
To receive a free fix kit for these units, please call Dorel Canada at 1-800-881-0570.
