OTTAWA — The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Arthur Hamilton of Toronto, Ontario to the board of directors of the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited.
"I am pleased that Mr. Hamilton has agreed to serve as a member of the board of the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited," said Minister Cannon. "His professional experience will be an asset to the corporation."
Mr. Hamilton graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of laws from York University. He was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in February 1997. He joined Cassels Brock & Blackwell as an articling student in 1996, then as an associate in 1997, and moved to partner in January 2003. His current work focuses on issues of corporate governance disputes, alternative dispute resolution processes, and contracts. Mr. Hamilton is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited and its subsidiary organizations engage in a range of activities to ensure that the bridges, tunnels, roadways and other structures under their control are safe, modern, efficient, environmentally sound and well maintained.
Incorporated in 1998, the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited is responsible for the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Inc., the Seaway International Bridge Corporation Ltd. and the management of the Canadian half of the Thousand Islands International Bridge and the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge.
