OTTAWA — The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Terry Geddes as a member of the board of directors of the Great Lakes Pilotage Authority.
"I am very pleased to announce this appointment to the authority," said Minister Cannon. "Mr. Geddes' knowledge of issues in the Great Lakes region, combined with his background in public administration, will serve the authority well."
Mr. Terry Geddes obtained a bachelor of arts degree from the former Waterloo Lutheran University, now Wilfred Laurier University. He also attended the Ontario Principals Course at McMaster University. He served three terms as mayor of Collingwood, Ontario and has been warden for the County of Simcoe. He has also served as treasurer of the Great Lakes Mayor's Association and Cities Initiative. Throughout his professional career he has chaired a number of educational boards, including as principal of the Simcoe County Board of Education from 1981 to 2001.
Mr. Geddes has been appointed to the authority's board of directors for three years.
The mission of the Great Lakes Pilotage Authority is to establish, operate, maintain and administer in the interest of safety, an efficient pilotage service for commercial vessels within the Great Lakes region.
