The decision to suspend the Air Operator Certificate was based on the review of the company's documentation and the department's assessment of the preliminary information following the January 17, 2004, fatal accident involving a Cessna 208B Caravan at Pelee Island.
Transport Canada's special purpose audit is ongoing. Today's action does not preclude any further regulatory action at a later date.
The department will continue to work with Georgian Express Ltd. The company will be required to demonstrate that it meets all applicable rules and regulations before its Air Operator Certificate will be re-issued.
