Transport Canada Suspends Air Operator Certificate of Keystone Air Service Ltd

WINNIPEG — Transport Canada today announced the suspension of Keystone Air Service Ltd.'s Air Operator Certificate, effective immediately. This action is based on significant safety concerns with the company's maintenance management system identified during recent Transport Canada inspections of the company.

Transport Canada has taken this action in the interest of public safety following a comprehensive review of inspection findings. This review followed months of monitoring of company operations and maintenance management practices. The department consulted with Keystone Air Service Ltd. prior to the suspension and the company had an opportunity to provide input into the process. Today's suspension does not preclude any further regulatory action at a later date.

The department will continue to work with Keystone Air Service Ltd. The company will need to demonstrate that it meets all applicable rules and regulations before its Air Operator Certificate will be re-instated.
