Transport Canada Reinstates Air Operator Certificate of Keystone Air Service Ltd.

WINNIPEG — Transport Canada today announced the reinstatement of Keystone Air Service Ltd.'s Air Operator Certificate following approval of the company's corrective action plan. The reinstatement is effective immediately.

Key steps in the corrective action plan are a new management structure for the company and contracting out of maintenance operations to a Transport Canada-approved aviation maintenance provider.

Following receipt of the corrective action plan, Transport Canada conducted an on-site inspection of the company to verify that corrective actions are in place.

Transport Canada will continue to closely monitor Keystone Air Service Ltd. and follow up with the company to verify that corrective actions are effective. The department's ongoing monitoring includes regular and no-notice inspections and audits. Today's decision does not preclude further action at a later date.

Transport Canada suspended the company's Air Operator Certificate February 5, 2004, in the interest of public safety, after a comprehensive review of inspection findings identified significant safety concerns
