See this? Looks fine, right? Wrong. As many as half the tires on the road during the summer are either under-inflated or over-inflated. Thing is, you can’t always tell just by looking.

Before you head out on a road trip, make sure you use one of these… (he holds up a tire pressure gauge) …and fill any tires that are under-inflated—including the spare—up to the air pressure recommended by the manufacturer.

Combined with summer heat and high speeds, an under-inflated tire can cause a blowout—which can really spoil your vacation plans.

Check the pressure and wear of your tires at least once a month.
