The description of the "High Rise Auto Booster Seat" (item 8712-912) featured on page 186 of the 2006 Annual Catalogue is incorrect. The description reads: "Belt-positioning booster for 30 - 100 lbs." The weight use range should read 40 - 80 lbs. The labels affixed to the Cosco High Rise booster cushions provide the correct information. This product is recommended for use by children weighing between 18 to 36 kg (40 to 80 pounds).
Home Hardware Stores Limited has issued a correction notice on item 8712-912. This notice was sent to their 1,030 stores across Canada. The stores have been advised to inform customers of the error and to provide the correct information when selling the product.
Transport Canada wishes to inform all parents and caregivers that booster cushions should only be used by children weighing at least 18 kg (40 pounds). Children weighing less than 18 kg (40 pounds) will obtain optimum protection when properly restrained in a child restraint system with an internal harness. Moreover, the use of booster cushions by children weighing less than 18 kg (40 pounds) is prohibited in several provinces in Canada.
