Problem:
The English language statement of compliance label is incorrect with respect to the weight range specified for the booster cushion mode. The label should have stated that for the booster cushion without the harness system the weight range for this unit is 18 - 36.3 kg (40 – 80 lbs); instead of 13.6- 36.3 kg (30 – 80 lbs.) The French labels and instructions are correct.
Background & Company Action:
A consumer identified the problem with the restraint system label and contacted Century and Transport Canada. Century immediately initiated an investigation into the matter and determined that they had a compliance problem.
Safety Risk:
Century consider the problem to be a low risk hazard. The correct booster cushion weights are reiterated on another label and in the instructions.
