Ontario Region


Transport Canada provides a range of programs and services in the Ontario Region through its offices in Toronto and through its network of Transport Canada Centres throughout the region.

Ontario is home to some of the largest transportation facilities in the world. Union Station, Canada's largest inter-city rail station and major commuter transit hub, serves 240,000 passengers per day.

Ontario has over 150 airports and heliports including Lester B. Pearson International Airport, which handles over 30 million passengers per year making it the world's 29th busiest airport.

In addition, Ontario has an extensive road system with over 230,000 kilometres of road in the province including three of Canada's busiest international bridges, which facilitate trade with the U.S.

With a population of more than 12 million people, Ontario is situated on the Great Lakes water system, the largest group of fresh water lakes in the world.
