Strategic Policy

The Strategic Policy Directorate has a broad mandate for policy integration, both within the Policy Group and on a corporate basis across Transport Canada. The mandate is executed through leadership roles both in major policy development processes, and in design and implementation of major integrative initiatives. The former includes the TC Policy Committee, medium term policy planning, and input to Speeches from the Throne and Federal Budgets; the latter includes the National Policy Framework for Strategic Gateways and Trade Corridors, the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative, and the Atlantic Gateway. The Directorate includes the Cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs Branch, which coordinate the Department's extensive support to the Minister for his Parliamentary and Cabinet duties, as well as the Policy Integration and Research Branch, and the Pacific Gateway Coordination Branch.
