Pre-feasibility Study Concerning the Replacement of the Existing Champlain Bridge
In 2009, the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) commissioned BCDE Consortium to prepare the Pre-feasibility Study Concerning the Replacement of the Existing Champlain Bridge. Its purpose was to evaluate options for replacing the existing bridge. JCCBI administered the contract and shared costs with Transports Québec, given the department’s responsibility for public transit in the province.
This study provided advice and information on whether replacing the Champlain Bridge was the best option. The study examined options for a bridge versus a tunnel, and evaluated transportation needs, traffic demands, environmental aspects, implementation modes and financial considerations.
The pre-feasibility study consists of a summary report and eight sectorial reports.
