The Green Supply Chain Award at the SCL Canada &Canadian Industrial Transportation Association - 43rd Annual Conference "Leading the Logistics of Change" was awarded to Bison Transport for their commitment to environmental leadership and corporate responsibility.

All of the tractors and trailers in Bison’s fleet are equipped with fuel efficient tires, transmissions, and engines as well as auxiliary power units to reduce idling and in-cab computers to monitor fuel economy. In addition, the use of Long Combination Vehicles (LCVs) has resulted in a more than 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the fleet and the introduction of a new online calculator allows clients to estimate the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from their freight shipment.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities just published their newest collection of case studies, which includes one that explores how to reduce the environmental impacts of truck freight transport.

GMEF 2790 - Study addresses trucking inefficiencies (City of Sherbrooke, Québec)

This innovative study explored how to reduce the environmental impacts of truck freight transport within the Sherbrooke region. The project investigated the transport requirements of a selected group of businesses and explored how to reduce the environmental impacts of truck freight transport while maintaining, or possibly increasing, profitability.
