The Stepping it Up initiative, led by Metrolinx, focuses on elementary schools in the Region of Peel and the City of Hamilton. The project will pilot new concepts and determine ongoing initiatives to encourage students and staff to get to school by walking, cycling, taking transit or carpooling.
The Shifting Gears project includes expanded transportation outreach and education for workplaces, secondary schools and the general community. There are also plans to expand the current monthly IWALK pilot program to include all elementary schools.
The Transit Outreach Program will encourage local secondary school students to use public transportation.
The City of New Westminster Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Program is a series of related initiatives aimed at reducing the number of auto commute trips taken by municipal employees and by employees of four of the city's main employers as well as a Safe Route to School Program for the City's nine elementary schools.
