The ecoTECHNOLOGY for Vehicles (eTV) has selected the smart fortwo micro hybrid drive (mhd) for testing and evaluation because of its idle start-stop system, making it the ideal vehicle for urban commuting. Additionally, this vehicle offers other environmentally friendly advanced features, such as lightweight materials, which decrease fuel consumption and reduce GHG emissions and criteria air contaminants. Based on available driving cycles, the fuel consumption improves by as much as 20% in the city when using the mhd system.
