Environmental Benefits of Battery Electric Vehicles

  • Have higher efficiencies than internal combustion engine vehicles – so less energy is being wasted within the overall vehicle
  • Life-cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions directly related to battery electric vehicles are significantly lower than those produced by internal combustion engines
  • Do not contribute any tailpipe GHG or particulate emissions

The ecoTECHNOLOGY for Vehicles (eTV) program acquired the Tesla Roadster because it is the first passenger battery electric vehicle (BEV) sold in Canada to be certified to operate on all roads and highways.
