The eTV program is interested in fuel-cell technology because it may obtain near-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, provides an alternative to fossil fuels and has the potential to provide a clean means of transportation for Canadians. Fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCV) are similar to battery electric vehicles. However, rather than electricity being generated through a reversible electrochemical reaction, it is generated through an irreversible electrochemical reaction of hydrogen with oxygen.
The eTV program includes both fuel-cell electric vehicles and vehicles with a hydrogen internal combustion engine in its fleet. Choose a vehicle using the thumbnail below as a link. Each vehicle's page includes pictures, a downloadable technical sheet and, where available, a test plan and test results.
Watch the video on hydrogen vehicles to learn more about this emerging technology.
