The North York Chamber of Commerce is a proactive business association with a mission to foster a vibrant economic environment in North Toronto. The Chamber has developed a Transportation Management Association (TMA) steering committee to oversee and supervise the operation of the Black Creek TMA that will serve 100,000 employees and 50,000 students.

What are they doing?

Black Creek TMA is developing a transportation demand management system to make the transportation system more efficient by:

  • developing commuting programs with ride-matching and transit components;
  • educating employers, property owners and others on transportation strategies and the benefits of TDM;
  • creating a network of transportation coordinators to promote alternative transportation and facility improvements; and,
  • increasing awareness of alternative transportation services and serving as a voice for transportation and air quality issues in the North Toronto/Vaughan area.

Status

To be completed by March 31, 2002.
