The Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers (CITE) provides a forum for professionals in the transportation engineering and planning field to exchange information. CITE also undertakes research projects and publishes the findings of these projects through technical documents and seminars.
CITE is developing and will disseminate the Canadian Guide to Promoting Sustainable Transportation Through Site Design. This guide will provide municipalities and land developers with design and planning practices that promote sustainable transportation. The guide will serve as a reference for developers when designing sites and their associated transportation infrastructure and amenities, and also for municipalities when reviewing applications. The guide will address design elements such as building orientation and layout in relation to transportation facilities, site access, design of infrastructure (including internal roads and parking) and site amenities.
The project has three objectives:
Results will be posted upon receipt of a final report.
