Breaking the Barriers: Teens in Cycling
Citizens for Safe Cycling promotes greater bicycle use and enjoyment, cycling safety and education, safer roads and bicycle routes and increased respect for cyclists.
What are they doing?
This two year pilot project at five different high schools is aimed at increasing the number of students who cycle in the Ottawa-Carleton region. The project will:
- Determine barriers to teen cycling, and establish groups to promote cycling to students, along with a bike buddy system.
- Develop a series of skits for touring schools, along with bike clinics, safety demonstrations and promotion of safe cycling courses.
- Promote the environmental, health and social benefits of human powered transport.
Status
Project to be completed by March 2002.
