Université de Moncton - Faculté des sciences de l'éducation - Groupe de recherche Littoral et vie is a research group that has been working with New Brunswick coastal communities to engage residents in environmental action since 1996. The group has completed several youth-oriented and education projects on climate change.

What are they doing?

The project aims to create 25 small "communities" of volunteers that will modifytheir transportation behaviour and driving practices in Moncton/Dieppe and Saint-Louis-de-Kent. The first method used is a short theatrical presentation, a parody on how we drive. The second method is an information session on climate change that follows a field trip in the community. The third method brings creativity into play - participants will be asked to think about new ways that vehicle emissions can be reduced in their village, town or city.

Three municipalities and 11 service stations in the region will help facilitate implementation. This project targets three municipal councils, delivery services, seniors groups, employees, social clubs and some schools.

What did the project accomplish?

Results will be posted upon receipt of a final report.
