BikeCartAge: Priming the 'Zero Pollution' Pump

Victoria Centre for Appropriate and Responsible Transportation (VCART) Society promotes sustainable active transportation through a replicable human powered delivery system.

What are they doing?

They will establish a one year showcase demonstration project at the University of British Columbia's campus. The project will reduce the use of cars by introducing a bike-based delivery system. The project has two phases:

  • Phase 1: Train a six-member team for newspaper delivery on campus. Establish several fee for service delivery contracts through rental or loans of bikecarts.
  • Phase 2: Expand the fee for service delivery contracts. Educate and inform the public about the merits of bike carts and sustainable transportation options.
