CentrePort Canada Way (Winnipeg International Airport)

Anticipated Project Completion: Spring 2014

The CentrePort Canada Way project involves the construction of a new four-lane divided expressway linking Winnipeg’s inland port to the highway network.   The high-speed corridor will connect Inkster Boulevard (PR 221), the James A. Richardson International Airport and the CP Weston rail intermodal facility to the  Perimeter Highway near Saskatchewan Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Trans-Canada (Highway 1) and Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) Interchange (near Portage La Prairie)

Federal Contribution: $21,000,000
Anticipated Project Completion: Spring 2014

The project includes construction of an interchange of the Trans-Canada and Yellowhead Highways and a road/rail grade-separation at the Canadian National Railway (CNR) Main line.  The junction of these highways is approximately seven kilometres west of the City of Portage La Prairie.

Hudson Bay Railway Line Rehabilitation Project (Northern Manitoba)

Federal Contribution: $20,000,000
Anticipated Project Completion: Spring 2018

This rehabilitation project consists of upgrading the full 877-km rail line, from The Pas to the Port of Churchill. Work includes railway tie replacement, siding extensions and restorations, turnout (switch) replacement, resurfacing and ballast (rock) restoration, bridge and culvert repair, subgrade restoration, road crossing rehabilitation, and the installation of hot box detectors.

Highway 75 Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (Southern Manitoba)

The Highway 75 Reconstruction and Rehabilitation project consists of improvements to the existing north-south roadway that links Winnipeg and the Canada/United States border crossing at Emerson, Manitoba.

Highway 10 Improvement Project

Anticipated Project Completion: March 2013

The project involves the upgrade and rehabilitation of Highway 10 from its east junction with the Trans-Canada Highway to Highway 25, a total length of 14.8 km.  The proposed project includes grade-widening and the reconstruction of aged pavements to increase the loading capacity.  In addition, highway shoulders will be widened and upgraded from gravel to paved surfaces with rumble strips, and new 1.5 km-long northbound and southbound passing lanes will be constructed.
