The Havre-Saint-Pierre Airport is owned and operated by Transport Canada and the management has been taken back since January 1^st, 2009. The airport has been designated a Regional/Local airport under the National Airports Policy.

Transfer of airport

In 1996, a letter of intent was signed allowing the Municipality of Havre-Saint-Pierre and Transport Canada to begin negotiations for transfer of the airport to the municipality by the year 2005.
