Under the Government of Canada's EcoFreight program, up to $61 million is allotted to reduce the environmental and health effects of freight transportation. Of the six EcoFreight components, the National Harmonization Initiative for the Trucking Industry allocates up to $6 million over four years to Transport Canada to encourage the uptake of emission reduction technologies in the trucking sector. This is a collaborative effort in partnership with the provinces and territories and it’s objective is to identify potential regulatory barriers and solutions to the adoption of available technologies in the trucking industry to reduce emissions.
