Consultations on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
From Transport Canada
Transport Canada, based on risks, develops safety standards and regulations, provides oversight and gives expert advice (through the Canadian Transport Emergency Centre — CANUTEC) on dangerous goods accidents to promote public safety in the transportation of dangerous goods by all modes of transport in Canada.
The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Directorate conducts regular consultation activities on which you are invited to submit comments.
The Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) is Transport Canada's national consultative body for marine matters. Meetings are normally held twice a year in the spring and fall, nationally in Ottawa.
Aviation Security Consultation
Transport Canada wants to propose a regulation that would give the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) the authority to break a lock or seal (e.g. plastic shrink-wrap) to open locked checked baggage when x-ray technology identifies a concern.
